Mountain View Doodles FAQ

Adoption & Pricing

Question 1: How much do Mountain View Doodles puppies cost?

Our adoption price is $3,000. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required after your application is approved to join the waiting list. The remaining $2,500 balance is due when your puppy match is made at 7 weeks of age.

Question 2: Are deposits refundable?

Deposits are non-refundable, but they can be transferred to another litter if your timing or interest changes.

Question 3: Where is Mountain View Doodles located?

We have two locations: Brownsville, OR (our main location) and Sisters, OR. We also deliver puppies across the U.S. and internationally for an additional fee.

Puppy Pickup & Delivery

Question 1: Can my puppy be transported to me?

Yes! While we prefer in-person pickup in Brownsville, we offer several options:

- Free delivery in Sisters, OR

- Hand delivery to your nearest airport ($750–$1,500 depending on location)

- Pickup at Eugene (EUG) or Portland (PDX) airports (small fee for PDX)

- Ground transport via pet courier (pricing varies; we have recommendations)

- Airline cargo shipment (only in special circumstances)

We’ll discuss the best option for your situation when your puppy is ready.

Puppy Matching & Selection

Question 1: Do families get to choose their puppy?

We handle final puppy matching to ensure the best fit. Families share preferences, receive weekly updates, and at 6 weeks get videos plus a questionnaire to share their hopes. At 7 weeks, after careful evaluation of temperament and personality, we finalize matches.

Question 2: How do you match puppies to families?

Our process focuses on personality and temperament rather than just looks or gender. We use daily observations, Puppy Culture protocols, and structured evaluations to learn each puppy’s traits. Families looking for therapy or service prospects benefit from our detailed screening process.

Question 3: What if I don’t like the puppy I’m matched with?

If the match isn’t right, you’ll move to the waitlist for the next litter that better fits your criteria.

Visiting & Guardian Homes

Question 1: Can we visit your home and see the puppies?

For the health and safety of our puppies, visits are limited. Puppies are not handled by visitors before pick-up day due to risks like parvovirus. Approved families can visit our space and view puppies from a safe area.

Question 2: Where do your parent dogs live?

All breeding dogs live in guardian homes, enjoying family life when not whelping or raising puppies with us.

Puppy Health & Care

Question 1: Will my puppy be spayed/neutered?

No. Puppies go home with a strict spay/neuter contract, requiring proof of procedure by 8 months of age. This is non-negotiable.

Question 2: Why 8 months?

We believe it’s the healthiest option for preventing cancers, accidental litters, and unwanted behaviors. This is based on 20+ years of breeding experience and veterinary guidance.

Question 3: Are puppies vaccinated and microchipped?

Yes, puppies receive initial vaccines, deworming, and a vet exam. Microchipping is optional—we leave that decision up to each family.

Question 4: Are dewclaws removed or tails docked?

No. We take a holistic approach and leave puppies natural. If desired, dewclaws can be removed at the same time as spay/neuter.

Size & Coat

Question 1: How big will my Labradoodle get?

Miniature: 20–35 lbs (14–16")

Medium: 30–50 lbs (17–19")

Standard: 45–65 lbs (20–25")

Life expectancy: 12–15 years

Question 2: How do I choose a color?

Colors can change over time—lighten, darken, or stay the same. Focus on a color palette (like chocolate, red/apricot, black/grey, cream/white) rather than a single shade.

Question 3: What size or gender is best for me?

Lifestyle matters more than size or gender. We help guide you through options based on your activity level, family needs, and preferences.

Breed Information

Question 1: Are Australian Labradoodles good family pets?

Yes! They’re loyal, smart, loving, and great with kids. They need daily exercise and mental stimulation, but with training they make excellent companions.

Question 2: Are Labradoodles low-energy?

Not exactly. They’re playful and active, but also love to cuddle once their needs are met.

Question 3: What’s the difference between a Labradoodle, Australian Labradoodle, and Aussie Doodle?

Labradoodle = Labrador Retriever + Poodle

Australian Labradoodle = Multigen with Cocker Spaniel infusion (our dogs)

Aussie Doodle = Australian Shepherd + Poodle (different breed)

Question 4: Are your puppies F1, F2, F1b, or multi-gen?

All Mountain View puppies are multi-generational Australian Labradoodles with strong pedigrees.

Food, Training & Supplements

Question 1: What food do you recommend?

We feed and recommend PawTree for consistent coat health, nutrition, and quality. (Families receive discount info at pickup.)

Question 2: Do you recommend a training program?

Yes! We strongly recommend Baxter & Bella’s online training program. It offers lifetime access, resources, and one-on-one coaching. (Use code MTVIEW for 25% off.)

Question 3: Do you suggest supplements?

Yes—we use and recommend NuVet Plus for long-term health and immunity support.

Other Questions

Question 1: Do you sell older or retired dogs?

No. Since all of our breeding dogs live in guardian homes, they retire into those families permanently.

Question 2: Why aren’t you a member of ALAA or WALA?

We respect both organizations, but they don’t recognize the Merle coloring. Since we responsibly breed Merles and many families desire them, we’ve chosen not to join.
